Dr. Thomas Patrie was born and raised on Long Island, where he initially honed his skills at the Oberlin Conservatory, earning a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance. He further pursued graduate studies in music at Brandeis University and the New England Conservatory and spent several years as a professional cellist in Boston before embarking on a career in dentistry.
This musical foundation endowed him with a keen attention to detail and an ability to perceive the overarching structure, skills that prove invaluable in his dental career. Currently, Dr. Patrie serves as an Associate Clinical Professor at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine, where he shares his expertise with future dentists. He is also an active member of The American Academy for Oral and Systemic Health, reflecting his commitment to advancing the connection between oral and overall health.
In 2005, Dr. Patrie graduated with a D.D.S. from the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine in New York. He then completed a two-year residency at Stony Brook’s General Practice Residency, where he served as chief resident, focusing on comprehensive treatment planning, implant prosthetics, and advanced endodontics.
For more than a decade, Dr. Patrie has practiced privately on Long Island. His commitment to community service is evident from his work providing dental care to the Shinnecock Indian Nation in Southampton. He is an active member of the Eastern Long Island Dental Implant Study Club and the American Dental Association.
A proponent of healthy and natural dentistry, Dr. Patrie is a member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) and is certified in the Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique (SMART). His dedication to safe, holistic dental practices led him to become a Naturopathic Medical Doctor in 2020, board-certified in Integrative Biologic Dental Medicine.
Residing in Setauket, Dr. Patrie enjoys surfing, playing the cello and banjo, and cherishing moments with his two sons and wife when he’s not in the office.
